President’s Charity Art Exhibition 2016

President Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam and Mr. Timothy Chionh, Ms. Ms. Ong Chiak Yin from Organizing Committee , enjoying the song performance “Chan Mali Chan” by the students of Wild Empire Choir Group. The choir comprises volunteer choristers ranging from 7 years-old to young working adults. It performs at charitable events such as the President’s Challenge Charity Choral Festival and the annual President’s Challenge Art Exhibition.

President Tony Tan attended the President’s Charity Art Exhibition on 11 November 2016. The President’s Challenge Art Exhibition was founded by Mdm Lim Sew Yong (Artist and Chairman of Raffles Fine Art Auctioneers) in 2013, when she donated 150 of her original art works to raise funds for the President’s Challenge. In this photo, Mdm Lim (in green) was showing President a collage pieced together using photos taking from past President’s Charity Art Exhibitions. The highlight of this year’s exhibition is the “We Are So Good Together” calendar series by first-time artist Mr Timothy Chionh (third from left), which will be distributed at various Community Development Councils around the island.

Happy to attend this year’s President’s Charity Art Exhibition which features 30 works by artists Mdm Lim Sew Yong, Artist and Chairman, Raffles Fine Art Auctioneers and Mr Timothy Chionh, Mdm Lim’s son and first-time artist. This exhibition includes a first-ever set of 20 paintable “We Are So Good Together” calendar series that is made up of artworks from Mdm Lim, Mr Chionh and other artists from Raffles Fine Arts Auctioneers.

Veteran artist Mdm Lim believes in doing her bit to support the less fortunate with her art. I thank all the artists for their dedication and generosity in giving back to society. May their spirit of giving spur more people to take on such efforts for charity. I would also like to thank donors for their strong support for the arts and the President’s Challenge.
